PRESS RELEASE

THE LOWER CARAGH FISHERY

GLENBEIGH

CO. KERRY

The owners of the Lower Caragh Fishery, Seefin Fisheries Ltd. have reached agreement with the Caragh Bridge Angling Club on the future management and development of the fishery.

Seefin Fisheries Ltd. has granted the club a fifty year lease, commencing 6 February 2008, entitling its members to fish during specified times from Monday to Saturday during the entire angling season. The lease also grants exclusive access for club members on every Sunday of the angling season.

Seefin Fisheries Ltd. and the Caragh Bridge Angling Club are delighted with the new agreement and both now look forward to the future management and development of the fishery in a community – private sector partnership which is probably unique in Ireland.

Both parties will agree angling codes which will ensure the future well-being of the fishery and will meet on a regular basis to ensure that the agreement is fostered in a continuing spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.

It is envisaged that the Lower Caragh Fishery will become a model for the balanced utilisation of a natural resource by local and tourist anglers alike.
